More Files

Continuing my work from yesterday, the Files menu now gets preview and mime icons for items, and the GTK bookmark directories are expandable as well.

Subsequently, it was decided that this menu should only show directories:

Ticket #1231: New bouton in EFM that display directly the File menu

I took a different approach to this one. Instead of adding a button to pop up a menu that you can get to by right clicking, I added a sidebar that gives you a way to view your favorites…which there’s already a button for.

      Hi fra,
I’m also using the hannes janetzek PPA on 12.04. Do you find that some apps like Rhythmbox will often freeze when closing it’s window while playing a song? Even Chromium sometimes freezes. I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing the same problems that I’m having.

there are some features that would be nice to have in enlightenment:
Window snapping a la Aero snap
The whole application should be themeable, not just the window borders
    graphical password box
icon only taskbar that shows all open application icons, not just minimized apps
live window previews when hovering over taskbar

these are just some features that come standard with unity/gnome/kde, and though e17 should be kept lightweight, it still feels lacking without features like this which make the whole computing experience convenient, pleasing and complete.

    • Window snapping…you mean windows snapping to edges when they get near? We got that.
Whole application themeable? The default theme is completely customizable; it’s over 40,000 lines and allows complete control over your interface.
Graphical password box…we don’t have any cases (yet) where this is necessary.
Icon only taskbar: check out engage in SVN.
Live window previews: I added something like this for pager, then removed it. This will definitely be in for E18.

Could there be an option that the menu also displays files instead of just directories?
